Description

Offset printing puts one colour down at a time, and when the plates are a hair out of line the edges ghost — a red rim on one side, a cyan rim on the other. Printers spend their lives avoiding it. This one keeps it, on a spade, with the name underneath in the same misregistered red and blue.

It is the one design here about printing rather than about poker. That is why it is the only one we put on white: the effect needs a paper-coloured ground to read as a press fault.

Printed on a garment-dyed blank. The dye goes in after the shirt is sewn, so the colour sits a little uneven along the seams and softens with washing instead of going patchy at the shoulders.

White only, for that reason. On a dark shirt the cyan edge disappears and the joke goes with it.
