Choosing a poker cap that lasts more than a season

A poker hat gets worn every week, sweated into, crushed in a bag and left on a chair. Most of the ones sold online are printed, which is why the design goes flat within a month. Ours are embroidered — stitched into the twill rather than laid on top — and that single difference is the whole reason to spend more than the cheapest option available.

It is also the one piece you can wear at the table anywhere. In Las Vegas, Atlantic City and the Los Angeles rooms, caps and sunglasses are argued about constantly and enforced almost never — the only clothing rule with any teeth concerns offensive slogans, which is one reason nothing we make carries one. So a poker cap is not a statement. It is equipment, and it gets treated like equipment.

Three things worth checking on any cap, ours or not

  • Embroidered or printed? Run a thumb over the mark. If you feel thread, it will still be there next season. If you feel a smooth film, it will crack.
  • Structured or unstructured front? A structured panel holds its shape instead of collapsing onto your forehead. It is what separates a cap you keep from one that lives in a drawer.
  • Undervisor colour. A dark or silver undervisor cuts the glare bouncing off the felt. A white one throws it back at you.

Questions we actually get

Which size should I take?
Two sizes cover it: S/M and L/XL, together fitting 55.9 to 60.6 cm. Measure once around your head just above the ears and take the size your measurement falls inside. The elastic stretch band absorbs the rest — there is no snap to adjust and nothing to dig in over a long session.

Will the embroidery hold up in the wash?
Yes, but wash it by hand in cool water and let it air-dry. A machine will not damage the stitching; it will damage the structured front panel, which is what actually ruins caps.

Can I wear it at the table?
Almost everywhere, yes. Caps, hoodies and sunglasses are argued about constantly and enforced almost never. What every room does enforce is offensive slogans — which is one reason nothing we make has a slogan on it. More on that in what casinos actually enforce.

How long until it arrives?
Each cap is embroidered after you order it: two to five business days of production, then shipping. About a week in the United States, closer to three in Europe. We would rather tell you now than apologise later.
