Description
There is no slogan on this one. The whole design is the mark — the 89s seal, small on the left chest, and nothing else. It is the quietest thing we make, and probably the piece you will get the most wear out of.
Nobody in Las Vegas or Atlantic City is going to stop you in a t-shirt — American rooms gave that up years ago. What a collar is for is the hundred feet between the poker room and the steakhouse, the rooms abroad that still enforce one, and hour nine at the table. This settles all three, and you can keep wearing it the next morning without looking like you dressed for an occasion.
Thick pique cotton with a tone-on-tone placket, so the buttons disappear instead of announcing themselves. A ribbed collar that holds its shape rather than curling by the second wash. Side slits and a straight hem — it sits properly tucked or loose.

- Tone-on-tone three-button placket, spare button on the inside seam

When a collar actually earns its place at an American table — and when nobody cares — is set out on the poker polo shirts page.

The detail
Cut and fit
How it is cut
RelaxedClassic
- Classic fit
- Cut straight rather than tapered. Sits properly tucked or loose.
- Ribbed collar
- Knitted separately and denser than the body. It is the part that decides whether a polo still looks right in year two.
- Straight hem with side slits
- Without the slits the hem rides up every time you lean forward.
Fabric
Fabric weight — 210 g/m²
LightHeavy
- 100% combed ring-spun cotton
- Grey Melange is 85% cotton and 15% viscose, and we would rather say so.
- Pique knit
- The textured waffle knit. It holds air, so it breathes under a table lamp, and it holds its shape where a jersey polo goes limp.
How it is made
- Printed to order
- Nothing exists until you buy it.
- Sizes S to 5XL
- Tone-on-tone three-button placket, spare button on the inside seam.
- Blank sourced from Bangladesh
- Printed and dispatched from the facility closest to your address.
Looking after it
- Wash cold, inside out Pique holds its texture in cold water. Hot water is what flattens the knit.
- Dry flat Hanging a wet polo by the shoulders is what stretches a collar out of shape.
- Iron the collar on low if you must Never over the mark. Turn it inside out and press the collar alone.
